Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crochet or knitted stuffed creatures. It is a combination of the characters 編み ami meaning “wrapped” or crocheted and 縫い包み nuigurumi meaning “stuffed doll”. I learned to crochet from the women in my family and it keeps me connected to them in the best way. Amigurumi can be small or large, and range from popular tv characters, to everyday creatures or food items. They are always cute, or as they say in Japanese, kawaii!
