necessary materials to begin with crochet and Amigurumi

1. You will need a crochet hook, size H or 5 mm is a common size to start with.
2. You will need yarn, #4 medium weight yarn is good. You don’t need to start with anything fancy, you will need a skein or less for most small amigurumi projects.
3. You will need a large eyed yarn needle, needle with a large enough eye for your yarn with a blunt tip, either plastic or metal.
4. You will need scissors, they don’t need to be special ones, just clean and sharp.
5. Eventually there are some other items that you will want to obtain that make the process much easier: small craft scissors and stitch counters, and stitch locks/markers.
6. For some projects I decorate the eyes and mouth by using fabric markers or fine tip Permanent markers. You can also get safety eyes found at craft stores or online. Some people sew on buttons or use thread, it’s just a matter or personal preference and creativity.
