Cat (Butt) Coasters

Ok at first I wasn’t going to make these, but then let’s face facts, it’s the view I see most often of my cat Pierre. I love cats, but honestly they do present this view most often. So I present the cat butt coaster. #4 medium weight yarn in black and white, a 5.5 mm crochet hook, a #16 yarn needle and a small amount or pink yarn for the … well… for the butthole. My son was pretty pleased, and Pierre doesn’t care either way as usual. As always would love to hear comments or questions, just click on my contact page. And hope you enjoy the humor of the project if not the view 😉

Amigurumi Scrap Monsters

Ever wonder what to do with those bits and odd leftovers of yarn. Half used skeins and such, well here’s the answer! Amigurumi Scrap Monsters. Use any color combination you like, simply stick with the same weight yarn for a back and front panel, in order to match them up. Then add tenatacles, ears, hair, wherever and however you like. I made these with #4 medium weight yarn and a 5.00 mm H hook. Questions, comments or suggestions please go to my contact page in the menu. I would love to hear from you as always, have fun and share the amigurumi joy.

Amigurumi Christmas Pickle

Christmas Pickle Myth and Legend

Seriously this is amazing! My love history combined with my love of amigurumi? It doesn’t get any better. Someone mentioned that there was a German tradition of putting a pickle in the Christmas tree. One, everybody in my family LOVES pickes. Two, I have always wanted to crochet a pickle, and I was curious about this tradition. Some digging indicates maybe this is not a German tradition, but German-American. The story that pleases me most, so that’s what I’m going with, has to do with a Bavarian American solider named John C. Lower. He was enlisted in the 103rd Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. Legend goes that as he lay starving in prison and John Lower requested a pickle from his prison guard. Later Lower would credit that pickle with saving his life. And so each Christmas he would hide a pickle shaped ornament in the tree, and the first person to find it would have good luck in the coming year. Awesome amigurumi pickle and lovely Christmas story.
